A mother and her infant were rescued safely from a burning home in Kalamazoo's Edison neighborhood on Friday afternoon.

Fire crews laddered up to the second floor of the property after the baby was reportedly thrown from a window and caught by a Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officer. The mother was pulled from the building moments later.

No one was injured in the incident, according to KDPS officials.

The fire took place at a multi-level home on Washington Avenue near James Street.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the blaze.
