Jury finds Pierre Chambers guilty of first-degree premeditated murder

A Genesee County jury convicted Pierre Dwayne Chambers, 34, of first-degree premeditated murder for shooting his father 24 times in the face during a November 2024 argument at their Flint home.

Chambers faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Sentencing is scheduled for August 11, according to the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office.

The shooting on Gratiot Avenue

The killing took place at the Chambers' residence on Gratiot Avenue in Flint on November 8, 2024.

Osborn Chambers, 62, and his wife had attended a funeral earlier that day. Osborn returned home alone and got into an argument with his son shortly after arriving, according to police reports and trial testimony.

Pierre Chambers retrieved a handgun from his bedroom and shot his father multiple times. The shots struck Osborn Chambers 24 times in the face, once in the chest, once in the right shoulder and arm, and grazed his left hand, according to ABC12.

After the shooting, Chambers left the home and bought beer at a local party store. He returned approximately 10 minutes later and called 911 to report the shooting.

Officers found Osborn Chambers lying face down on a staircase inside the home. Pierre Chambers was arrested at the scene.

Prosecutor calls it a tragic and avoidable death

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton released a statement after the verdict.

"This was another sad incident in our community that involved a gun, alcohol, and perhaps some mental health issues. Most importantly, it is another tragic and avoidable conflict that resulted in the loss of life," Leyton said.

Leyton praised Assistant Prosecutor Sara Brady, who led the prosecution team at trial.

Additional charges

In addition to first-degree premeditated murder, Chambers was convicted of five related felony charges, according to the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office.

Chambers will remain in custody until his August 11 sentencing hearing.
