# Pontiac Road Construction to Close Northbound Pontiac Trail Through Mid-November
The Road Commission for Oakland County will close northbound Pontiac Trail in Lyon Township starting May 18 for reconstruction and drainage improvements that cost $11 million.
Drivers traveling northbound from 9 Mile Road to the CSX Railroad tracks north of 10 Mile Road in South Lyon and Lyon Township must find alternate routes until mid-November.
Southbound Pontiac Trail remains mostly open during construction. The county will conduct short-term closures of southbound Pontiac Trail for sewer work and other improvements.
Traffic Diversion Route
Northbound traffic must use a detour route that goes from 9 Mile Road to Griswold Road to 10 Mile Road to Martindale Road to 11 Mile Road, then back to Pontiac Trail.
A section of 10 Mile Road will be closed at Pontiac Trail to install the sewer line and complete other improvements. Various other side street closures will be required for sewer and road construction. Dates for those closures will be announced as they approach.
Business Impact
On-street parking is prohibited on this section of road during construction. Businesses remain open. Sidewalk and business access will be maintained. The detour is expected to add time to commutes for residents and workers in the area.
The closure will affect the road section from 9 Mile Road to the CSX Railroad tracks just north of 10 Mile Road in South Lyon and Lyon Township. Construction will continue through mid-November.
