Road Closure Affects Downtown Traverse City

Traverse City will close the 100 block of Cass Street between E. State Street and E. Front Street starting May 18 for a crosswalk replacement project. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the day, June 26. City officials said the work is weather-dependent and modifications to the schedule may be necessary.

Additional Closures for Through Traffic

Alleys between E. Front and E. State streets from S. Union Street to Park Street will be closed to through traffic during this period. Deliveries must follow detoured routes and access the area from side streets. City officials said sidewalks along the east and west sides of Cass Street will also close at the alley for reconstruction.

Business Access Remains Available

Proper signage will be in place for detours and entrances to all businesses will remain accessible throughout the project. Officials encouraged motorists to use alternate routes to avoid the area, reduce congestion and promote worker safety.
