A month after a pedestrian was struck and killed on a Cass County highway, deputies arrested a suspect

Timothy Johnson, a 24-year-old from Benton Harbor, was walking along M-152 near Pleasant Street in Silver Creek Township when a vehicle struck him on the morning of May 24. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

A suspect has now been arrested in connection with the crash. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest on Saturday, June 20. Officials are withholding the suspect’s name because he has not yet been arraigned in court.

The crash occurred in the Dowagiac area, roughly 45 miles west of Kalamazoo. The investigation spanned Cass, Van Buren, and Berrien Counties.

"Detectives and deputies have spent countless hours investigating this incident to try and bring closure to Timothy Johnson’s family and friends," the Cass County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Sheriff Clint Roach thanked residents across three counties for sharing video footage and information that helped advance the case.
